Lansing, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The State Senate has approved legislation regulating commercial quadricycles, also known as pedal pubs, in Michigan.
The legislation forbids purchase or sale of alcohol on board a pedal pub, but allows passengers to possess and consume it while on board.
The measure, sponsored by Senator Wayne Schmidt of Traverse City, includes a zero tolerance policy for the driver and requires owners of pedal pubs to purchase injury and damage liability insurance.
A companion measure sponsored by Senator Tom Casperson of Escanaba outlines the regulatory requirements defining a commercial quadricycle or pedal pub.
The bills now go to the House for consideration.
