Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio) – Plantar fasciitis, an inflammation of a thick band of tissue that connects the heel bone to the toes, was the subject of our latest Active Physical Therapy update.

Scott Corkin, athletic trainer at Active, joined Mike Plourde on the SUNNY Morning Show to talk about this condition and how it can be treated and managed.

Corkin said the condition is very common with more than 3 million U.S. cases per year.

He said it is usually self-diagnosable and is treatable and is recognizable with inflamed tissue that runs across the bottom of the foot with strong pain near the heel.

Corkin talked about treatments that include stretching exercises of the feet and physical therapy as needed.
