Houghton Woman Arraigned For Car Crash With Kids

    Houghton, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – A Houghton woman has been arraigned on misdemeanor alcohol and drug charges following a rollover traffic accident last Friday with her children inside the car.

    34-year-old Annie Marion Freeman is charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated with an occupant less than 16 years old, which is punishable by up to one year in jail and a $1,000 fine, and possession of marijuana which is punishable by up to a year in jail and a $2,000 fine.

    The accident was reported just after 10:30 p.m. Friday on Airport Road near M-26 in Houghton County’s Osceola Township.

    A passerby discovered the vehicle upside down with a small child wandering outside of the vehicle.

    The passerby then was able to release a baby in the vehicle from a car seat, and the driver was able to crawl out from the vehicle on her own.
