Hancock, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – A master plan for McLain State Park in Houghton County has been finalized by the Department of Natural Resources.

The plan was developed by the department to guide the next 60 years of developments at the 443-acre park, located along Lake Superior between Hancock and Calumet.

The master plan includes a $1.25 million appropriation for an initial phase of construction, which is slated to begin this spring.

The first round of construction is planned to address shoreline erosion damage at the park that happened during severe storms in late 2014 and early 2015.
