    Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Michigan Department of Transportation is moving ahead with plans for a major road reconstruction and streetscape project in Hancock.

    M-DOT will reconstruct about a mile of US-41 from the Portage Lake Lift Bridge to M-203.

    The project area includes Front, Reservation and Quincy Streets in Hancock.

    The project also includes the southbound US-41 connector ramp to eastbound M-26, under the Portage Lake Lift Bridge.

    The streetscape work involves street lighting and curb improvements and tree plantings.

    The $11 million project is scheduled to begin in summer of 2016.
