Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Current Marquette County Undersheriff Mike Klein has declared as a write-in candidate for Marquette County Sheriff in the upcoming November 8th general election.

Klein joined the SUNNY Morning Show with Walt & Mike today to talk about his decision to re-enter the race following a defeat in the August Democratic primary.

That election was won by current Chocolay Township Police Chief Greg Zyburt, while no Republican candidate entered the race.

Klein says he has a passion for the job and he believes his 20 months of experience as the Undersheriff makes him the best candidate for the post.

He added that if he becomes the new Marquette County Sheriff, transition at the position will be seamless and he will continue relationships between the Sheriff’s Office and municipalities in the county.

Klein admitted he knows the effort is a long shot, but he said the job is worth fighting for.
