Marquette Township Board Addresses Tax Tribunal Issues And Votes To Support CR 595 Lawsuit

    Marquette Township Supervisor Dennis Liimatta

Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Marquette Township Board has taken steps to consider options to the budget of a voter-approved plan to recondition roads in the township.

Township Supervisor Dennis Liimatta joined the SUNNY Morning Show with Walt & Mike this week to talk about the adjustments needed in light of financial ramifications from the Michigan Tax Tribunal decisions concerning the taxable value of so-called “big box” stores in the Township.

Liimatta says the challenge facing the township is to develop a comprehensive and effective plan that will still improve the roads with less funds.

According to Liimatta, the contractor hired for the resurfacing work has put forth a plan that he feels will still get the job done and come in at the newly adjusted budget.

He also talked about the township board’s decision to formally endorse efforts by the Marquette County Road Commission’s in their lawsuit against the EPA over permitting to construct County Road 595.

Liimatta also previewed an upcoming all-ages 3-on-3 hockey tournament at the new outdoor ice rink at Lion’s Field in the township.
