Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Thunderstorms that moved through last evening dropped 3 to 4 inches of rain over much of the Chocolay River Basin in only a few hours.

As a result, the National Weather Service has issued a Flood Warning for the Chocolay River near Harvey until 7:00 tomorrow evening.

Flood stage is 10 feet, and the river is forecast to max out at 11 feet this afternoon and should recede by late tomorrow morning.

Officials with Marquette County Emergency Management say do not try to drive through any of the flooded roadways and they remind residents that it is never safe to drive or walk into flood waters.
