Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Cliffs Natural Resources has finalized an interim power agreement with WE Energies for its Michigan operations.
According to Cliffs officials, this is a key step in a series of short and long-term agreements essential to the viability of their iron ore mines in the U.P., and the agreement will have positive impacts their costs.
Cliffs says the finalizing of the agreement also benefits the electric consumers in the Upper Peninsula with the elimination of excessive SSR payments being charged to consumers.
Cliffs says they will continue to work with Governor Rick Snyder and other state officials to pursue other power related initiatives to the benefit of both Cliffs and the U.P. community.
