Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Marquette City Police are reporting a pair of traffic accidents this morning on US-41 South between Marquette and Harvey that briefly closed down the highway.
According to Police, a two-vehicle accident happened when one vehicle rear-ended another as the first vehicle was driving slowly due to whiteout conditions.
The second accident occurred a short time later when a mini-van struck a Marquette City fire truck that was on the scene in response to the first accident.
No names have been released, but several people were taken to UP Health Systems-Marquette for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Initial investigation indicates the drivers of the at-fault vehicles were driving too fast for conditions and the investigation is continuing.
The highway has been reopened, but police are discouraging travel on the stretch.
