NMU Develops Benefits Access For Student Veterans

    Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – A new veterans resource representative is at Northern Michigan University to help veterans get access to benefits.

    Mike Rutledge has 22 years of military experience as well as a background in teaching at the high school and community college level.

    Rutledge says he works to assist veterans on campus and in the community take advantage of all benefits available to them due to their military service.

    He says there are about 300 self-reported veteran students at Northern, which has been designated a military-friendly school for six consecutive years.

    Rutledge will work closely with the university to facilitate access to educational veterans benefits.

    He is one of twelve resource representatives based at institutions of higher learning throughout the state.
