One Killed, One Injured In Snowmobile Crashes

    Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Authorities in the eastern U.P. responded to two separate snowmobiling accidents over the weekend with one reported fatality.

    The Chippewa County Sheriff says 27-year-old Craig Althouse of Highland died Saturday when he crashed his snowmobile on Trail 480 south of Raco.

    Althouse was reportedly traveling too fast for trail conditions when his machine left the trail on a curve and hit a group of trees.

    Also on Saturday, 50-year-old Coleen Wood of Bay City was injured when she lost control of her machine on Trail 8 near Paradise.

    She was reportedly traveling too fast for conditions and left the trail on a curve.

    Woods attempted to jump off the snowmobile and hit a trail sign. She was taken to War Memorial Hospital for treatment.

    Her condition is unknown at this time.
