Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Michigan Governor Rick Snyder delivered his fifth State of the State address last night to a joint session of the legislature at the State Capitol in Lansing.

Snyder outlined several of the successes of his administration over the last year and called out for a series of changes and initiatives focusing on several areas of state government and programs.

Upper Michigan lawmakers Senator Tom Casperson and  Representative John Kivela called in to the SUNNY Morning Show with Walt & Mike with reactions to the governor’s speech.

Casperson, an Escanaba Republican, said Snyder gave a speech that showed a renewed passion for the economic future of Michigan that will help lead the legislative process over the next year.

Kivela, a Marquette Democrat, said the speech wasn’t bad, but did not really include any new ideas and served as more of a recap of the pluses of the past year.

Both lawmakers did, however, credit the governor for the mention of the Career Technical Education efforts being coordinated by the Marquette-Alger Regional Education Service Agency in the address.
