Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – A well-known bridge in the eastern U.P. will be renamed to remember a fallen soldier from Northern Michigan.

The bridge on US-2 over the Cut River in Mackinac County will now be known as the “Heath Michael Robinson Cut River Memorial Bridge”.

Governor Rick Snyder has signed a bill sponsored by 107th District State Representative Frank Foster calling for the change.

Robinson was a U.S. Navy SEAL from the Petoskey area who was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2011.

The measure was one of 11 bills signed by Snyder designating memorial roads and highways across the state.
