Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – State Senator Tom Casperson has authored a resolution requesting Congress prevent the U.S. Postal Service from consolidating the processing of all U.P. first class mail from the processing center in Kingsford to Green Bay, Wisconsin.
The Escanaba Republican’s resolution urges Congress to stop the U.S. Postal Service from closing or consolidating the Kingsford location on January 5th.
Casperson says that would result in first class mail in the U.P. having no chance of next day delivery and that is unacceptable and unfair to U.P. residents and businesses.
The measure was adopted by the State Senate and will be sent to the President of the U.S. Senate, the Speaker of the House and all of the Michigan Congressional delegation.
