Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Superior Watershed Partnership is hosting two public meetings this week regarding their on-going independent assessment of the Eagle Mine in Northern Marquette County.

Since October 2012 the Marquette-based environmental group has monitored the mine through the Community Environmental Monitoring Program.

The monitoring includes verification of Eagle’s permit requirements for surface and groundwater, wildlife, plant life, and air quality.

The first meeting is tonight at 7:00 o’clock at the City of Marquette’s Citizen’s Forum at Lakeview Arena.

The second public meeting will be Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at the Humboldt Township Hall. Interested parties are encouraged to attend to learn more about the program, ask questions and provide input.

The C-E-M-P Meetings are hosted by Superior Watershed Partnership and are independent of the recent community forums held by Eagle Mine.
