Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – 110th District State Representative Scott Dianda has a bill in a bipartisan legislative package addressing Michigan’s energy future.
The Calumet Democrat joined Republicans Rob VerHeulen of Walker and Wayne Schmidt of Traverse City.
One bill increases Michigan’s energy independence by relaxing regulations on customer energy generation while ensuring safe and reliable energy distribution.
The other measures seek to reduce energy waste and increase Michigan’s use of renewable energy.
Dianda says U.P. residents are currently facing substantial energy rate increases and the state needs to invest in energy generation and empower people to produce their own power.
The bill package also advances Governor Rick Snyder’s energy policy goals of improving adaptability, increasing reliability and affordability and protecting Michigan’s environment.
