Winter Weather Awareness Week Underway In Michigan

Matt Zika with the National Weather Service

Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Governor Rick Snyder has proclaimed this week as Winter Weather Awareness Week in the state of Michigan.

Matt Zika with the National Weather Service Office in Negaunee Township joined The SUNNY Morning Show with Walt & Mike to talk about the upcoming winter.

Zika says although some wintry weather already hit us last week, it is obvious the seasonal transition towards winter is in full swing.

Zika explained that while snow, cold temperatures, ice and wind will affect the U.P. this winter, it is not going to be as extreme of a winter this year as it was last year.

He added still important for residents to be reminded of and to prepare for the dangers associated with winter weather.
