Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – U.S. flags at the State Capitol will be lowered to half-staff tomorrow in honor of former State Senator Walter North of St. Ignace, who died Friday at the age of 81.
North was elected to the Michigan Senate in 1994 in the 37th District, which includes Mackinac and Chippewa counties.
He served for two terms.
Prior to his time in the legislature, North worked with the Mackinac Bridge Authority and the Michigan Department of the Treasury.
Funeral services are tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Ignace United Methodist Church.
