NMU Archivist Discusses Jamrich Era Formation Of Faculty Union

    Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Northern Michigan University Archivist Marcus Robyns will be giving a presentation on campus this week on a portion of the history of President John X. Jamrich’s administration at NMU.

    Robyns joined The SUNNY Morning Show with Walt & Mike today to talk about the event and encourage listeners to attend.

    Robyns said the presentation is entitled “Blood on the Table – The Battle for Shared Governance at NMU 1967-1976”, with the main title coming from transcriptions of the mediation between faculty and the administration to develop the shared governance of the university.

    This presentation will focus on President Jamrich’s relationship with the faculty and the struggle to determine the nature of shared governance.

    The struggle culminated in the establishment of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP).

    The presentation will be held this Wednesday, September 24th, at 7pm in room 126 of the Learning Resources Center.
