Copper Country Man Arraigned On Murder Charge

    Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – A Copper Country man is lodged in the Houghton County Jail following arraignment on murder and attempted murder charges.

    42-year-old Paul Moilanen of Hubbell has been arraigned one one count of second degree murder and one count of attempted murder in a stabbing incident in Hubbell early Friday morning.

    48-year-old Marcy Lavigne was found dead by police in her home and her 14-year-old daughter was hospitalized with multiple stab wounds.

    The girl called 911 to report the stabbing around 3:30 a.m. Friday.

    Moilanen was arrested by authorities after he was located in a wooded area near the residence about two hours later.

    Moilanen is being held on a 2.5-million dollar bond and faces a preliminary hearing in two weeks.
