Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Officials with Cliffs Natural Resources have begun the process of possible development of creating a power plant to serve their facilities in Marquette County.
According to a statement released yesterday, Cliffs and Invenergy Thermal Development have executed a Letter of Intent to consider a combined heat and power co-generation facility to serve Cliffs Michigan operations.
The firms will evaluate the feasibility of a co-generation facility within 120 days.
The capacity and location of a potential facility will also be researched.
Cliffs will continue to work with the Michigan Governor’s office and local stakeholders to develop all potential solutions to electric power challenges in the U.P.
