    Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) –  The Marquette City Commission is holding a special meeting this afternoon to consider an offer from Duke LifePoint to build the new Marquette General Hospital in the city.

    If approved, the new facility will be constructed on and area of vacant land between Baraga Avenue and Washington Street known as the Roundhouse Property.

    Duke LifePoint is looking to purchase the property for $4 million for the $170 million hospital construction.

    The planned project would be built on approximately 37 acres of land.

    The meeting is set for 4 p.m. today at Commission Chambers at City Hall in Marquette.
