    Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The National Weather Service has issued a Beach Hazards Statement through this evening along the Lake Superior shoreline.

    High waves and dangerous swimming conditions, strong rip currents and strong outlet currents are expected along the shoreline in Marquette and Alger counties.

    Dangerous waves and life-threatening currents are expected at the beaches. People visiting the beaches should stay out of the water.

    Pay attention to beach flags and signs posted at beach access points and lifeguard stations.

    Dangerous currents occur most often at breaks or low spots in sandbars, near shoreline structures and near river mouths or other water outlets.
