Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Upper Peninsula Power Company is warning their customers of a phone scam.
Officials say someone may call a customer posing an UPPCO representative and threaten service disconnection unless financial or credit card information is provided within a short period of time due to allegedly being delinquent on their accounts.
Any UPPCO customer who receives such a suspicious call should write down any information the caller provides and also take note of the call date and time, phone number and any other information.
UPPCO customers should not provide any private information, account or banking information.
Customers should contact UPPCO’s 24-hour Customer Service department if they receive suspicious calls.
