NMU Campus Tobacco Use Ends at Midnight

nmu_print_signatureMarquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Today (July 31st) is the last day that general use of tobacco will be allowed on the campus of Northern Michigan University.  Starting tomorrow, the Marquette campus will officially be tobacco free. The NMU Board of Trustees voted in December to approve a resolution to have the campus go tobacco-free on August 1st.  The policy prohibits all tobacco products including cigarettes, e-cigarettes, cigars and smokeless tobacco.  The policy covers all university property and university-owned vehicles as well.  There are some exceptions including smoking on public sidewalks and roadways bordering the campus, personal vehicles driven or parked on campus that have the windows fully closed and where there are no minors in the vehicle and on the NMU Golf Course.
