Marquette Area Public Schools Propose Sinking Fund Millage

    Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Marquette Area Public School District is asking voters to approve a sinking fund millage in the upcoming August 5th election.

    District Superintendent Bill Saunders joined the SUNNY Morning Show with Walt & Mike today to explain the proposed tax levy.

    Saunders explained that the millage would be .95 mill for ten years and would allow for the repair of current MAPS facilities.

    He added that this tax is would be on all properties within Marquette Area Public Schools District and generates approximately $11 million over a ten year period.

    For homes assuming a $50,000 assessed tax value this would be an increase of about $47.50 a year.
