Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Michigan Technological University in Houghton has received a multi-million dollar grant to reform middle-school science education.
The $5 Million grant from the Midland-based Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow Foundation will fund development of a model including a new curriculum supported by updated teacher education and teacher professional development strategies.
The project will test its reforms in the partnering public schools including the Calumet-Laurium-Keweenaw and Houghton-Portage Township Schools.
If successful, the program will be a model for improving science education across Michigan and throughout the U.S.
