Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – A new volunteer board has come together with the goal of continuing the Marquette 4th of July fireworks.
New volunteer Board Members were voted in with the goals of fundraising and creating the vision for continuing the tradition of Mattson Lower Harbor fireworks. The group came together after the current committee announced this would be the last year they would host the fireworks in Lower Harbor.
During the meeting, safety guidelines were adopted. Existing contracts and policies were reviewed, adjusted and adopted and the creation of an informational website with donations tab has been put into effect.
The new Board is being lead by President Tom Baldini, Vice President Pat Black of the MCVB, Treasurer Mona Lang of the DDA.
Marquette’s annual fireworks draw approximately 35,000 people. Organizers say it costs $45,000 to put on a show like the one this past July 4th in Lower Harbor.
