Marquette County Man Arrested On C-S-C Charge

    Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) –  Ishpeming City Police report the arrest of an Ishpeming man on criminal sexual conduct charges involving a minor.

    44-year-old John Wayne Mathews was arrested on Friday on one count of accosting a child for immoral purposes, which is a four-year felony and one count of 4th-degree C-S-C involving a victim between the ages of 13 to 16, which is a two-year felony.

    He was lodged in the Marquette County Jail and is being held on $200,000 cash bond.

    He faces a preliminary exam in 96th District Court on Tuesday the 20th.

    1. A conviction for CSC4 will result in either public or non-public sex offender registration depending on the circumstances of the conviction. If the defendant is a mental health professional and the sexual conduct occurs within two years of treating the complaining witness.
