Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News ) – Negaunee Police arrested one person early yesterday morning after being called out on a report of someone breaking into parked cars.
Officers were called out to an area on Pine Street around 12:15 yesterday morning when three suspects were seen breaking into the vehicles. 19-year-old Tyler Scott Johnson of Heritage Drive in Negaunee Township was taken into custody. Police say he had several items in his possession that were believed to be stolen.
Johnson was charged with Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle, a misdemeanor punishable by up to 93 days in jail and/or a fine of $500 or three times the value of the stolen items, whichever is greater. The investigation is continuing and further charges may be filed against Johnson.
Negaunee Police are encouraging residents to check their vehicles and call them at 475-4154 if any items are missing.
