MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Chrysler said today it earned a profit of just over a half a billion dollars during the three months ending June 30. That’s a 16% increase compared with the same period last year.
The $507 million profit was due largely to an increase in pickup and SUV sales, which also helped the automaker overcome other challenges.
The increase is also three times more than the profit Chrysler earned during the first three months of the year when the automaker’s profits declined to just 166 million dollars.
In the meantime however, Chrysler has scaled back it’s forecast for the year, saying it will now make between 1.7 and 2.2 billion dollars, through the sale of just over two and a half million new cars and trucks.
Chrysler earlier said it would have a profit of 2.2 billion dollars for the year.
