MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The former director of an assisted living facility in Manistique convicted of embezzlement charges has been sentenced to one year behind bars.
Jana Chaperon, 39, of Rapid River was arrested following an investigation into embezzlement involving Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital.
Chaperon was the director of the Woodland Meadows Assisted Living Facility, a business owned by the hospital at the time of the embezzlement. She resigned from the position last summer prior to it’s sale.
Chaperon was sentenced to serve 11 months immediately. She will serve 36 months of probation after her incarceration. She also has to pay over $80,000 in restitution.
