MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – A State Senate committee is scheduled to meet Wednesday in Lansing on the controversial issue of Medicaid expansion.
Governor Rick Snyder has been prodding lawmakers into approving the expansion proposal, although many conservative Republicans oppose the effort in part because it’s linked to the federal Affordable Care Act, also known as “Obamacare.”
The committee will hear an update on a panel known as the Healthy Michigan Workgroup.
Public testimony will not be heard at the meeting, but will be at a later date, according to Michigan Senate Majority Leader Randy Richardville.
The Governor says approving the expansion can make Michigan healthier, both financially and physically.
