MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Northern Michigan University Board of Trustees has approved a tuition increase for next school year. The annual cost for full-time resident undergraduates will be $9,094, an increase of $328, or 3.75 percent.
Gavin Leach, vice president for finance and administration, says NMU will also be making an adjustment to financial aid with a 6.6 percent, or nearly $1 million, increase. Leach says that will offset about a third of the overall tuition increase.
The board also approved an increase of President David Haynes’ base salary of nearly $202,000 by 2.3 percent for the current fiscal year.
Haynes says he will donate the increase back to the university as a charitable contribution.
The Board also outlined Presidential goals focusing on enrollment and retention, the branding, marketing and identity of the university, financial management, endowment and excellence in academics and athletics.
