M-DOT Suspends Road Construction to Ease Travel

    MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News)The Michigan Department of Transportation will help make travel easier for the estimated 1.4 million Michigan residents Triple-A Michigan says will be traveling this Fourth of July holiday weekend.

    M-DOT is lifting traffic restrictions on 118 of 162 projects statewide.

    Beginning at 3 p.m. today and continuing until 6 a.m. Monday, July 8, M-DOT will suspend construction wherever possible on state roads and bridges.

    State Transportation Director Kirk Steudle says while most work zones will be inactive for the holiday, there are still areas that must have lane restrictions kept in place and urges all motorists to drive with caution through work zones.
