MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – State Police at the Negaunee Post responded to an early-morning traffic accident this morning in Alger County. The single-vehicle accident was called in around 2:40 a.m. on H-15 near Shingleton in Munising Township.
Troopers arriving on the scene found the the vehicle, a 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier, fully engulfed in flames. After the fire had been put out, investigators located the body of a lone occupant inside the vehicle.
The cause of the crash is under investigation, but authorities believe excessive speed was a factor. The I.D. of the victim is being withheld as the investigation continues.
