An effort is underway in the Upper Peninsula to lure a gun manufacturer to the state.
State Senate Republican Tom Casperson of Escanaba says he has been in talks with gun companies on the east coast to move their production into the State of Michigan. He also says Michigan is in the running to lure a gun manufacturer. Remington is among the companies being pursued.
In the meantime, legislation is before the Michigan Senate which specifies that guns made in Michigan would not be subjected to Federal laws or regulations under Congress’s authority to regulate interstate commerce.
