MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – A new outdoor activity with ties to the Hawaiian Islands is becoming increasingly popular in our area of the Great Lakes.
Bill Thompson, co-owner of Down Wind Sports in Marquette and Houghton, joined The SUNNY Morning Show with Walt & Mike today to talk about paddle boarding.
Specifically, Thompson joined the show to encourage listeners who may not be familiar with the sport to come and take part in a pair of special “try & buy” events this weekend in Marquette and Houghton.
Thompson was talking about an opportunity for people to test paddle all of the new 2013 Stand Up Paddle Boards this Saturday in Marquette and Sunday in Houghton.
Down Wind Sports is presenting the special events from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on both days at Tourist Park in Marquette on Saturday and at Chutes & Ladders in Houghton on Sunday.
Thompson talked a bit about paddleboarding and where it came from as well the different ways a person can enjoy it.
He also talked about demos coming up at the store involving mountain bikes and how people can take part.
