MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office is reporting a three-vehicle accident yesterday just after 11:00 a.m. on US 41 near Brickyard Road in Marquette Township.
Deputies say 21-year-old Patrick Smith of Escanaba pulled out of the Lowe’s parking area onto US 41 in a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix into the path of a westbound 2005 Pontiac Vibe driven by 54-year-old Doris Perry from Essexville, MI.
After the initial crash, Perry’s vehicle was forced into the eastbound lane of US 41 and into the path of a 2013 Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by 53-year-old Raymond Gregory of Marquette. The pickup truck rolled over several times before landing on the wheels in a ditch on the south side of the highway.
Smith and his passenger in the Pontiac Grand Prix were not injured. Perry and her front seat passenger were taken to Marquette General for neck and back injuries. Gregory was not injured in the crash.
Smith, the driver of the Pontiac Grand Prix, was ticketed for failure to yield the right of way.
