MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The hunt is on for the 2013 state Christmas tree which will stand in front of the Capitol come November.
The Department of Technology, Management and Budget is spearheading the search for at least a 65-foot fir or spruce. The tree must have a maximum crown of 30 feet and a maximum trunk diameter of 30 inches, have easy access from a road with no interference from wires and be available at no cost.
The state will again partner with the Michigan Association of Timbermen and the Great Lakes Timber Professionals Association to find the perfect tree. Nominations for the tree will be accepted until July 31st.
