GM Recalling Hybrids

    Great Lakes Radio News UpdateMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News)General Motors is recalling 38,197 hybrid vehicles in the U.S. for an electrical flaw.

    The recall includes 2012 and 2013 model year Chevrolet Malibu Eco, Buick LaCrosse and Buick Regal sedans that are equipped with GM’s eAssist hybrid system.

    The automaker says the cars’ generator control modules may not function properly and could stall the engine or cause a fire. GM will notify owners and repair the module for free.

    The company is aware of generator control board incidents, including two trunk fires, which happened in the first 1,000 miles of operation.

    No injuries have been reported.
