MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Upper Peninsula Medical Center in Marquette was evacuated this morning due to a fire in the building.
The Marquette City Fire Department was called to the scene around 7:50 this morning. The fire was located in a confined area of the facility’s basement and was extinguished quickly by firefighters.
Extensive smoke filled areas of the building and was the reason for the evacuation.
All appointments at the center were cancelled through noon as fire crews worked to clear the smoke from the building. No injuries have been reported and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
