MI Senate Adjourns Without Vote, Federal Government Takes Over Health Care Exchange

    Great Lakes Radio News UpdateMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News)The Michigan Senate adjourned Thursday for a two-week break from Lansing, without voting on legislation that would appropriate federal funds for a state-federal partnership on a health care exchange,where consumers can comparison shop for health insurance, connected to the Affordable Care Act.
    Senate Republican Leader Randy Richardville of Monroe told the Gongwer News Services that the proposed appropriation received a “resounding disapproval” in the Senate Republican caucus. Thursday was the last chance for the legislature to act on the proposal according to Governor Rick Snyder.
    As a result, the federal government will take charge of the exchange in Michigan.
