Winter storm warnings are in effect for for Ontonagon, Gogebic, Keweenaw, Houghton and Baraga counties until 8:00 pm today and Alger, Luce and Northern Schoolcraft counties through 8:00 am tomorrow. Heavy lake effect snow will develop through tonight.
Snow totals in the eastern U.P. by early Thursday will have the greatest accumulations north of M-28 and east of Munising. Expect snow accumulations of up to 2 feet over the higher terrain south of Houghton and west of Baraga.
Northwest winds gusting to 35 mph through this evening will create areas of blowing snow, especially in open areas near Lake Superior.
