MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Marquette County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a traffic accident yesterday afternoon in Ishpeming Township.
The accident happened when an unknown vehicle was southbound on County Road 587 at the Cooper Lake Cutoff around 2 p.m. and crossed into the path of a northbound vehicle driven by 22-year-old Austin Kennedy of Ishpeming.
Kennedy had to avoid the collision and went into the ditch, hitting a large snowbank. A passenger in the vehicle, 28-year-old David Schoewe, also of Ishpeming, was taken to Bell Hospital for treatment.
There is no word on his condition at this time. Deputies say heavy snow was a factor in the accident.
