The poll was conducted by Denno Research for Lambert, Edwards and Associates, a Michigan-based public relations firm. Forty-three percent of the respondents did say security guards should be allowed to carry weapons in schools. Only three percent said parents should. Thirty four percent say no one should be allowed to carry guns in schools.
Pending legislation at the State Capitol would allow trained teachers to be armed in Michigan public schools. The poll has a margin of error of four percentage points.
