Ironwood, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – An Ironwood man arrested as the ringleader of a meth operation between the U.P., northeast Wisconsin and Las Vegas has been sentenced to 15 years in prison on federal drug charges.

The arrest of 39-year-old Richard Jon Hill, also known as “Rock Star Rick” comes after a two-year investigation by the Gogebic-Iron Area Narcotics Team and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

Authorities say the joint investigation led to the complete dismantling of a major criminal drug trafficking operation that brought meth into Upper Michigan from Nevada.

Officials say a total of seven federal convictions were made in the drug bust that involved over $200,000 worth of meth.
