Great Lakes Radio News UpdateMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News)Legislation has been approved by a State House committee to require a state to provide a “veteran” designation on driver’s licenses or State ID cards, if the vet requests it.

State House Democrat George Darany of Dearborn says businesses increasingly are offering special discounts and reduced rates for veterans, but they also may require proof of “veteran” status. He says the ID card designation will make it easier for honorably discharged veterans to obtain those benefits.

The bills are currently in committee.
