Marquette City Commission Moves Hospital Project Ahead

    Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Marquette City Commission has voted to formally approve land sales and purchases that will allow for the start of the construction of a new hospital in the city.

    At their regular meeting last night, Commissioners approved the sale of land along Baraga Avenue to Duke LifePoint for the site for the new hospital.

    The Commission also approved the purchase of a parcel of land in north Marquette that will be used for the relocation of the City Municipal Service Center from it’s current site along Baraga Avenue.

    In other business, the Commission approved the promotion of Fire Inspector Ian Davis to City Fire Chief.

    Davis will take over for current chief Tom Belt, who is retiring at the end of this year.
